Dangerous and deadly accidents
Head on collisions are less common than other types of accidents, accounting for only about 2% of car accidents. However, they are often considered the most dangerous type of vehicle accident due to the increased force sustained in the collision as a result of the combined speed of two moving vehicles. The force of two cars colliding head on at 15 miles per hour each is equivalent to the force of a vehicle colliding with a stationary object at 30 miles per hour. Thus, head on collisions are responsible for over 10% of car accident fatalities and can result in a wide variety of severe hard and soft tissue injuries, as well as head, spine and brain injury and facial disfigurement.
