A facet joint block or injection uses fluoroscopy (a type of real-time x-ray or CT) to guide placement of a needle which injects local anesthetic meant to numb a facet joint, providing relief from pain. It is minimally invasive and is performed on an outpatient basis in the doctor’s office.
