Life-changing trauma.
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), also called craniocerebral trauma can occur because of a closed injury, such as a blow to the head or a penetrating injury, such as an object penetrating the scalp and skull or a skull fracture, causing injury to the brain. Effects of TBI can be mild, like those associated with a mild concussion (a minor type of TBI), moderate or severe. Severe TBI can result in motor deficiencies, cognitive disabilities, psychological symptoms, coma or death.
