Pain Management
Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) is used to reduce chronic back and neck pain associated with injuries commonly sustained in accidents, as well as several other conditions, such as spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal), sciatica and post-surgical pain. Typically a 5-7 day trial is conducted to determine if the patient stands to benefit significantly from the procedure. If the trial is successful, the solution can be made permanent with an implanted stimulator. SCS works by using electronic stimulation to block pain signals from the brain and can reduce or eliminate the necessity for pain medications, greatly improving the patient’s quality of life.
