- Surgical repair of bone fractures, like open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) use hardware to bind bones, allowing them to heal.
- Surgical decompression of nerves, like the ulnar nerve in the arm reduce pressure on nerves to alleviate pain.
- Total or partial replacement (arthroplasty) of joints like the knee or hip, use bone resurfacing and/or prostheses made from metal or very hard plastic to simulate the body’s material return functionality to the joint.
