Spinal Surgical Procedures
Back Surgeries: Depending on the injury and treatment to date, back surgery may be recommended to decrease pain and increase mobility, resulting in a higher quality of life for the patient. Types include:
- Discectomy: A discectomy is performed to remove a herniated spinal disc that is pressing on a nerve root or the spinal cord. A fusion can also be performed where a graft or implant is inserted to fuse the bones above and below the disc.
- Laminectomy/Decompression: These procedures are used to remove excess material like bone spurs from the spinal column to reduce pressure on nerves and can be performed in conjunction with a Discectomy.
- Spinal Arthroplasty: Also referred to as “Artificial Disk Replacement,” this procedure replaces a damaged disc with a manufactured implant.
- Spinal Fusion: This procedure is used to strengthen the spinal column by fusing two or more vertebrae together using a bone graft and potentially implanted hardware, as well.
These surgeries, along with others not listed above can be funded by Rockpoint, bringing you the relief you need from your injuries when you need it.
